You probably surmised that ‘Exit Splash‘ is a program which tracks the departing web surfer who will never come back.  With this software you get a second and final chance to show your website visitor you worked so hard to get why he/she should buy from you or give you their contact info for further follow-up.

Even though there are many kinds of exit splash software, they all fall into two main sections.

With an exit grabber, a hover window pops up with the user moves the mouse toward the top of the browser window; the user isn’t trapped because he can exit the hover window or type in the address field.

Exit lockers — those are the gray windows style pop ins or the little chat window which comes into lock you in place and you have to x out of them before you can leave the page.  As an Internet user and web browser obviously those that lock me onto the page can be a bit annoying especially when it’s an offer which doesn’t interest me.  Having to click on OK and then usually the next screen which says click OK to continue or cancel to go back to the page means 2 extra clicks for me when I wanted to get off of the page.

On the other hand, as a website operator similar to Dave Guindon, I want a chance to dazzle the people visiting my website.  So the question is “how do I do this with out annoying them?”
